George Strait: Check Yes Or No Song of the Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: Some of us weren’t blessed to have our childhood boy- or girlfriend as our spouse, but that doesn’t mean the feelings are any less strong for whom we eventually marry. Sometimes when you fall in love later in life, that is a more potent relationship.
In 1995, George Strait added to his long list of hits with the release of Check Yes or No. In the song, he tells the story of 2 school-aged children who have a crush on one another. Strait sings from the perspective of the boy, now an adult, as he recalls receiving a kiss from the little girl, named Emmylou Hayes, and chasing her Round the playground, across the monkey bars to the merry-go-round. (As adults, you then chase each other around the furniture.)
The little girl then hands the boy a note in class asking him to "Check Yes or No" to let her know if he likes her back: Do you love me? Do you want to be my friend? And if you do, then don't be afraid to take me by the hand if you want to. I think this is how love goes, check yes or no.
Dan + Shay: Tequila Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: This song was written by Dan + Shay's Dan Smyers, along with Jordan Reynolds and Nicolle Galyon, Tequila is a reflective, pop-country heartbreaker about how the song's titular liquor reminds the duo of a lost love.
When I taste tequila/ Baby, I still see ya
Dan Smyers recalled: "We wrote that song with our buddy Jordan and Nicolle. Jordan knows we drink tequila - he knows that's our go-to so he was like, 'What if we wrote a song called 'Tequila?' That's how a lot of our writing sessions start."
The song's music video set in [my beloved] Colorado mountains stars deaf and mute actor, model and activist Nyle DiMarco and Instagram personality Mica Von Turkovich.
The pair portray a couple who fall in love with each other while cross-country skiing and learn to communicate through sign language (and tequila). The video is inspired by two things, the beauty of Colorado and raising awareness to the deaf community.
Tequila won both Song of the Year and Single of the Year at the 2019 ACM Awards. It was the first hit to win both awards in the same year since Miranda Lambert's Over You did so in 2013. Dan + Shay also took home the Duo of the Year trophy.
It used to be that beer and whisky ruled Country fans. Move over to make room for tequila. At least 12 celebs have their own tequila brands.

Kenny G: Forever In Love Song of the Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: Beautiful sax.
Luke Combs: Love You Anyway Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: Yes put this up last month... love this song so much. This is when love goes right and you would sacrifice all for love. The song lists a number of instances where Luke sings he would withstand every heartbreak just to love her.
For me, that would depend on the length of the relationship. If it's 25 months, then give it a hard pass. That'd be too hard loving someone that much. Reference the movie Somewhere In Time where a young, smart, somewhat cynical man meets the love of his life, loses her and literally dies of a broken heart within 10 days. If it's 25 years, then would go for it and hopefully change your spouse's mind about leaving. Luke's song writing is magical.
He shares this about Love You Anyway:
"Valentine’s Day 2020. I was playing a show and had dedicated Beautiful Crazy to Nicole (his now wife) and said, ‘If you’re in here (the arena), I love you. If not, you know I do anyway.’
"We loved the idea as a title and decided to write about loving someone so much that even if you knew from the beginning they were going to break your heart, you’d love them anyway.
"It came off very poetic and we wanted to find the words that could really give meaning to what we were trying to say, but as we say in the song, we didn’t know if there were deep enough words made for that.
"But it all came together and essentially it’s a heartbreak and love song all in one. And long story short, me dedicating a song I wrote about Nicole ended up turning into another song about Nicole, and how three years later the song is finally out at the same time of year. It’s a special one to me and I hope y’all love it as much as I do.”
The context Combs provides for Love You Anyway shines new light on the lyrics. It's evident that he is head over heels in love with Nicole, and he'll remain that way regardless of what the future holds. They married on Aug. 1, 2020 at their home in Florida. He used footage from their nuptials in the music video for his song Forever After All my absolute fav Luke song. The couple welcomed their first child, Tex Lawrence, on June 19, 2022. <source>
This song is evidence of why Luke Combs is a superstar. His way with words, the melody and his voice guarantee, he'll be around for as long as he wants:
If your kiss turned me to stone / I'd be a statue standing tall in Ancient Rome / And if your touch shattered me like glass / I'd be in pieces trying to make the breaking last

The Clash: Should I Stay Or Should I Go Song of Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: Another 80s song by an English punk rock group. It was released in 1982 as a double A-sided single alongside Straight to Hell, performing modestly on global music charts. In the U.S., Should I Stay or Should I Go charted on the Billboard Hot 100 without reaching the top 40. However, some folks really love it as it hangs around 4 decades later. Epic lines: Darling, you got to let me know / Should I stay or should I go? / If you say that you are mine / I'll be here 'til the end of time. Steadfast.
Gabby Barrett: Glory Days Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: In this ethereal and sleek anthem, Gabby Barrett sings of the treasures that fill her life, such as her cherished family and unyielding faith. She finds the divine in the ordinary and is grateful for the simple moments with her loved ones like: watching the sunset in their yard with her husband, watching their children playing, savoring a morning cup of coffee.
Gabby enlisted her husband Cade Foehner and their 2 children to co-star in her Glory Days music video. Together, they embody the song's powerful message of treasuring the moments that mold our lives. Under the direction of Nashville director and photographer Alexa Campbell, the music video unfolds, capturing Barrett's family amid the serene beauty of their picturesque farm.
In this enchanting setting, they create lasting memories, etching joy-filled moments in their hearts. On their farm with their family… Doesn't get much better.

The Beach Boys: Kokomo Song of Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: In 1988, 24 years after their first U.S. #1, the Beach Boys scored, what is to date, their last U.S. #1. The song, Kokomo, which was used to such great effect in the Tom Cruise movie Cocktail, was written by Mike Love from the Beach Boys, John Phillips from The Mamas and The Papas, and Scott McKenzie who had a huge hit with “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair).” Terry Melcher, who sang in a duo with Bruce Johnson, and who was also Doris Day’s son and the first Byrds producer also got a co-writing credit and produced Kokomo. Kokomo is also a real place, but not “off the Florida Keys.” It’s actually 6 places because there is a Kokomo in Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Colorado, Hawaii, and Texas. As well as being a place, it was a popular brand of 1920s coffee. In the 1970s there was a band named Kokomo, containing two of Joe Cocker’s Grease Band in the line-up.

The Doors: Light My Fire Song of Day 1: HOLLY NOTE: Most of Light My Fire was written by Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, who wanted to write about one of the elements: fire, air, earth, and water. He recalled to Uncut: "I was living with my parents in Pacific Palisades I had my amp and SG (solid guitar). Krieger came up with the melody and wrote most of the lyrics, which are about leaving inhibitions behind in flames of passion."
At first, the song had a folk flavor, but it ignited when Jim Morrison wrote the second verse ("our love become a funeral pyre...") and Ray Manzarek came up with the famous organ intro. Drummer John Densmore also contributed, coming up with the rhythm. Like all Doors songs of this era, the band shared composer credits. Jim Morrison indicated in his notebooks that he disliked this song and hated performing it. Ironically, Light My Fire was the last song Morrison performed live for his audience on December 12, 1970.
Morrison died at age 27 officially of heart failure, but others including eyewitness Marianne Faithfull said it was an accidental heroin overdose. He is one of the first members of the 27 Club, a list of popular musicians, artists, actors and other celebrities who died at age 27.
Parmalee: Just The Way Song of Day 2: HOLLY NOTE: Just The Way is a high-energy song about loving your partner for their true selves. It encourages the unconditional acceptance of their quirks and imperfections, as God never makes mistakes with His creations. Labelmate Blanco Brown joins Parmalee's lead singer Matt Thomas on the single. The quartet and the country trap singer have known each other for a long time and had many co-writing sessions together.
Hearing Just The Way we knew it was a special song," said Thomas. "As a band, we just needed that fifth element to help us deliver the message. We've been friends with Blanco for a few years now and have been waiting on the right song to collaborate on. Not only is he a great singer but he's all about purpose, positivity and meaning. For us, it was a no-brainer to get him on this song."
The uplifting music video reflects the song's empowering sentiment by shining a spotlight on different types of women showing they are all special in their own way.

Robert Palmer: Addicted to Love Song of the Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: As well as being an incredible performer, Robert Palmer was a prolific songwriter, penning large chunks of his solo albums all the way back to his 1974 debut Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley. Palmer wrote just 2 of the songs on the album entirely by himself, Get It Through Your Heart and... Addicted to Love. Yep, despite his occasional reliance on the writing talents of others, when it comes to his very biggest hit, it's all his own work.
While his "four-decade career incorporated every genre of music", Palmer is best known "for the pounding rock-soul classic, Addicted to Love, and its accompanying video, which came to epitomize the glamor and excesses of the 1980s.
"I went downstairs, got out the tape recorder, then went back to bed. Next morning, I thought, 'Phew, caught one there!'." The music world lost Palmer 20 years ago at age 54 of a heart attack. You just never know when your time is up.
Russell Dickerson: God Gave Me a Girl Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: Back in the early 2010s, Russell Dickerson was a struggling singer-songwriter playing the club circuit. When he broke up with his girlfriend, Kailey Seymour, Dickerson, hoped to find his future wife out on the road, but the Almighty had other ideas. The singer reunited with Kailey and they married in 2013. In this song, Dickerson commits himself to giving his wife the world after recognizing divine intervention brought them together.
"I feel like it was God who changed my mind, that convinced me that this was my wife," he told Billboard. "As soon as I broke up with her in college, all the peace left my body. And that's just a spiritual thing, like I was being convinced that she's my wife, this is happening, we're doing it."

The leftist horse hockey about saying America is terrible, worst country on the planet, that doesn't work for most people. Why would all of these illegal aliens be stampeding our border if America is so bad? Always honor Patriots. And Aldean is all that.

Mamas & the Papas: Words Of Love Song of Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: They sing that "words of love soft and tender won't win her any more." It's a darn fine place to start if it's from the heart. Rita Coolidge: All Time High (Theme Song From Octopussy) Song of Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: Rita Coolidge's career hit an all time high when she got to perform this theme song to the James Bond movie Octopussy. However, Coolidge was never a big fan of the song, as she felt the lyrics were never really finished.
The song was written by film composer John Barry and lyricist Tim Rice, who both worked on the music for Octopussy. Coolidge flew to London to record the song, and found that Rice was still working on the lyrics. "Even after we did the record, the song felt a little incomplete," she said.
Audiences did not share Coolidge's reticence, and the song was a hit. It was written from the perspective of typical Bond and lead woman who fall in love and she finds herself on a thrilling adventure.
All I wanted was a sweet distraction for an hour or two / Had no intention to do the things we've done / Funny how it always goes with love, when you don't look, you find / But then we're two of a kind, we move as one / We're an all time high.

Speaking with Today, Blacc said a few years before penning the hit song, while on a tour in Europe, he suddenly came to the realization that the life he was living was too good for him to believe.
According to Blacc, while on the road, he kept thinking to himself that the incredible heights he had reached in life was “such a dream” and that someone should wake him up “when it’s all over”. Roland Abante: When A Man Loves A Woman Song of Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: When A Man Loves A Woman was originally recorded by the soul singer Percy Sledge in 1966, reaching #1 in the US and #4 in the UK. It was his debut and biggest hit.
Michael Bolton's cover took the song back to #1 in the US in 1991. This song won the 1991 Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Bolton won the same award two years earlier with How Am I Supposed to Live Without You, but lost it the previous year when he was nominated for his cover of Georgia On My Mind.

Released in 1966, the song reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in September of that year and remained in the top position for 3 weeks. Billboard ranked the record as #2. It was certified Gold by the RIAA in the US in 1966 and in Canada, the song also hit #1.
Jason Aldean: You Make It Easy Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: Aldean says: "Tyler [Hubbard] and Brian Kelley from Florida Georgia Line, those guys have written songs for me in the past. They write songs all the time, and when we go in to start recording an album, Tyler will sometimes pitch me some songs that they've written that he feels might work for whatever it is I'm doing.
"So he came over to my house one day, and we were riding around in my truck listening to songs, and he was like, "We just wrote this on Friday! Check it out." I heard a verse and half of the chorus of this thing, and then I just stopped the music and said, "Are y'all cutting this song?" He was like, "I don't know. We just wrote it, and we're not going into the studio for another few months."
"I told him, "I want it." And he asked me when I was going in, and I said I was going in to the studio in two weeks. So he said, "Well, you're going in before us, so if you want it, take it."
"The guys from Florida Georgia Line wrote that with Morgan Wallen, so you've got two acts who could have recorded it, but, somehow, they both gave it up. It could have been a hit for either one of those guys, but, somehow, I ended up with it, which I appreciate very much."

The song is a lazily acoustic, beautifully harmonious, deeply emotional track punctuated by oh sweet darlin’s. According to the band’s drummer and vocalist, Don Henley, a good portion of the lyrics were written at a restaurant. It was in a booth at Dan Tana’s in Los Angeles that Henley, fellow bandmate Glenn Frey, and songwriting companion J.D. Souther spent time people-watching over libations.
Jason Aldean: You Make It Easy Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: You Make It Easy is actually written by some of the big names in country music: members of the country hit duo Florida Georgia Line Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard together with country star Morgan Wallen and songwriter Jordan Schmidt.
During one interview, Wallen recalled that it was Hubbard who brought the song to the table. He was inspired by his wife, Hayley, and the relationship they have despite him being relentlessly on the road as a musician.
Hubbard realized how hard it must be to love someone who’s not beside you all the time but then, he said, “she makes it easy,” which the group finds to be a great title. The moment that the idea was definitely out in the open, there was no question it was a hit waiting to be written.
You Make It Easy then made its way to the country singer’s doorstep even becoming one of Jason Aldean’s greatest hits.

NOTE: Thank you guys who have shared that you appreciate I keep this news site a bit more light-hearted. Like to honor heroes, joke a bit, put music up, animal stories and good news. Think we are unique in that. News can't always be dreary stuff. We have to have a light at the end of tunnel.

Alan Jackson: Chattahoochee Song of the Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: Well who doesn't love summer, swimming, dogs, first love, kisses and turtles?
And now for my 2nd best boy after Luke Combs, Luke Bryan singing Waves about July. Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: Song of the Day #2 is always the most important one. You know that by now. This song is about a young couple who fell in love early on and stayed together throughout life. She saves his life as many of us do with our spouses in one way or another. Sometimes it's physically as in this video, sometimes romantically, sometimes spiritually. Such a beautiful metaphor. And they are together forever after.

Yale Doctor Says All Health Care Professionals Should Wear Body Cameras To Catch Them Being Racist HOLLY NOTE: Not even a stretch to guess this doctor is black. I've been to black, Asian and white doctors, male and female. Racism has never been an issue and probably isn't even a thing unless people make it so. How many patients would want cameras in the exam room?

HOLLY NOTE: 2 years ago, it was all about COVID and health things. Now it's about woke, cultural issues, gays, trannies, ESG, abortion 'rights', affirmative action, etc., so this column will grow as we smartened up about the fake Fauci nonsense. Cimate silliness will be under climate. And of course: music that let our hearts sing and soar.
Faith Hill: This Kiss Song of the Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: What better song for International Kissing Day?
Rodney Atkins: If You're Going Through Hell Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: According to the singer, he received an email from a fan stating the time he was miserable after a series of mistimed events: He got fired, his wife had left him, and he felt hopeless. He was in his truck near a church, and about to commit suicide when suddenly the song came on the radio. He threw the pistol toward a pond and returned home.
Rodney Atkins says it’s one of the reasons that cause him to consider every word or message when writing songs. He strives to record and have songs that have a positive effect on the listeners.
There’s a message to embrace in this song! If you’re in a predicament where you believe there is no end, just continue to progress without stopping. If it frightens you, conceal those emotions. The situation will eventually clear out, and you’ll attain peace before some problems you feared will get the chance to occur.
If You’re Going Through Hell remained #1 for 4 weeks and also earned the top spot on the Billboard’s year-end chart for 2006.
BlackRock CEO Fink: We Don’t Say ‘ESG’ Anymore… ‘We Lose the Conversation’ HOLLY NOTE: Everything is about paying attention to language. As I wrote in Prophetic Perils: End Time Events Revealed there are at least 70 terms addressing sustainability. It's globalists' attempts to obfuscate, pivot to more 'acceptable' terms and numb our minds to achieve their agenda.
Aftermath Of State's Decision To Ban Race-Based College Admissions Over 20 Years Ago HOLLY NOTE: One way to make the playing field more equal is to end ‘legacy’ admissions as well as parents ‘buying buildings' to get their kids assured acceptance. In this discussion, what has been omitted is that Ivy League colleges have tens of billions in their endowment coffers. There is absolutely no reason tuition costs so much other than greed.

Toby Keith: Courtesy of the Red, White And Blue (The Angry American) Song of the Day 1 HOLLY NOTE: People are near the tipping point in anger. We're tired of being steamrolled by Marxism and far leftist ideology.
Democrats have inflicted intentional pain on Americans through mindless spending, a needless recession coupled with raised taxes, weaponized Federal agencies, instituted mandates; foisted LGBTQ, critical race theory and wokeism on us; promoted inflation, ignored the Constitution and SCOTUS rulings, and threw open our borders putting our nation's security at risk. Soon people will have a bellyful and Lady Liberty will shake her fist.
There are 81.4 million adult gunowners in the U.S. Using Childstats' data for 2023, based on 260 million adults 18 and older, that means over 31% of Americans own firearms. If push came to shove, and responsible kids say 12-17 y.o. who know how to shoot, that 31% might rise considerably. Many that age 12-17 who live rurally do know how to shoot. That's another 25.4 million.
In 2023 around 466 million firearms are civilian-owned in the U.S., enough for every man, woman and child to own one and still have 131 million guns left over. So government has cause to worry if they push citizens too far, too egregiously. Americans won't go down without a fight. No wonder they want out guns.
The Association: Never My Love Song of the Day 2 HOLLY NOTE: Unlike their song Cherish, which is often thought of as a romantic song but deals with unrequited love, Never My Love is a perfect wedding song. It's about unrelenting devotion: "How can you think love will end when I've asked you to spend your whole life with me?" Never My Love was the 2nd-most played song on American radio and television in the 20th century, trailing only You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' by the Righteous Brothers.
Joe Rogan Brands Dylan Mulvaney 'Mentally Ill' And An 'Attention Seeker' During Sit Down With Rapper Ice Cube - After Trans Influencer Claimed That Bud Light Had Abandoned Her HOLLY NOTE: Am of 2 minds on Budweiser's pivot. That the woke marketing VP, Alissa Heinerscheid, who thought tranny Mulvaney ads were a good move has subsequently been fired. That she so misread their customers, this was their only move. Her ineptness partnering with a transexual, cost the company a staggering $27 billion from April 1 to June 2.
Think people aren't still furious? RedTsunami tweeted to Budweiser, "You’re still tweeting? You’re almost at a $30 BILLION DOLLAR LOSS. Even if you ACTUALLY APOLOGIZED to the country, we’d still drink our own piss before considering buying your piss water ever again."
On a personal note, don't care 2 rips what people do privately, but I care massively that the 4%ers shove their lifestyle down our throats and expect us to accept the unacceptable.
Anheuser-Busch is desperately trying to regain their beer base first by reviving their beloved Clydesdales in a new ad and now most recently featuring grunting football fans trying to evoke a masculine feel. This may have missed the mark making Bud drinkers look like Neanderthals. Bring back the Clydesdales; bring back patriotism, bring back real men. That's what you were known for and it worked.
