Their nest is in a hanging basket and high enough off the ground, they should have been safe. However these rotten squirrels have sharp toenails and wrap them around the stucco. They can easily hang hang on exterior walls for an hour or more. Anyway this freaking squirrel ate the newly hatched babies – all 5 of them – for the 2^nd time this Summer. Actually, the first time around, they ate 12.

Heartbroken for the parents as the both build the nest and take turns sitting on it. Wouldn't blame them if they didn't lay eggs here again. Our property has always been a safe haven for nature's critters. Not this year.

Australian Woman Attacked By Dingoes During Run On Island Of K’gari: 'Lucky To Be Alive' – HOLLY NOTE: In 1980, this couple was camping out in AU. Their baby disappeared. They were accused of murder. They said dingos took their baby. Nobody believed them. They went through hell. If dingos can nearly kill a full-sized woman, imagine what they would do with an infant.

It was theorized that our Keplies have Dingo blood. Maybe not. They are super smart. But they are the gentlest of dogs.

From ABC Australia: "A team of researchers at the University of Sydney looked at the similar characteristics shared by the kelpie and dingo — distinctive pricked up ears, similar body shape and coat colour.

Dog genetics expert Professor Claire Wade said despite the visual similarities, the study found no detectable dingo DNA in the working dog breed. She said the research found the dingo connection was no more than bush folklore.

"While both the kelpie and the dingo have the up version of the ears, when you look closely at the DNA you can see that it's quite different," Professor Wade said. "So it's very unlikely it would have come from the dingo."
