Red Rocks (Morrison, Colorado) Hail Storm: Nearly 100 Concertgoers Hurt, 7 Hospitalized Some With Broken Bones HOLLY NOTE: The last time Stan let Bella out around midnight, he came back inside all excited. He shared that he watched from outside the most incredible lightning show ever. (That probably wasn't his brightest move.) Directly overhead massive cloud-to-cloud lightning bounced around without any thunder. He described it as 'huge worms darting back and forth'. Weird.
Silently he told Bella to hurry up, we need to get inside. After the dog was safely in her bed he stood on the back deck, under its roof and watched the light display. Eventually in the night a little rain arrived and thankfully without the golf ball sized hail.
As a reminder, Tesla settled in Colorado and ran his experiments here due to our striking lightning storms. (Oops, forgive the puny pun.)

El Niño Is Officially Underway. Here’s What That Means For The Weather HOLLY NOTE: We know firsthand this is true. Pueblo West, (Southern Colorado) only gets 12" of rain per year. As of last week, we'd already hit 10+" and it's absolutely hammering down now. Got just shy of an inch in under 20 minutes. We're already close to our yearly total.
Good thing the dog and I got our walk in super early! This rain is a welcome relief as we've been in very serious drought for the past 3 years.

NYC Is Sinking Under The Weight Of Its Buildings, Geologists Warn HOLLY NOTE: Every time we watch Blue Bloods, the opening scene shows skyscrapers literally at the water's edge. Often we remark that they were too terribly close to the water. This always creeped me out you could just imagine a good earthquake joggle could send them into the drink. Second, no grass; just concrete, glass and metal, traffic and noise. If you're an outdoor person this rubs every nerve raw because there is nothing of nature under foot and no elbow room. Third, some of Manhattan is built on reclaimed land. That is all kinds of stupid.

May Outlook: Here's What's On Tap For Next Month HOLLY NOTE: Some folks in the West may have delayed veggie planting, but not us. Right now one end of the kitchen is filled with tomatoes, squash, zukes and pepper plants waiting to go to their new home. 6 Romas and 4 Early Girls already have flowers on them as do several type squash.
One Roma already has a 1/2" tomato on its little 10" body, which I snapped and sent that pic to my better half. It's common knowledge that here you can safely plant by Mother's Day. Looked at the local forecast and it will be in the mid-40s at least through May 12. So I will happily be outside all weekend.
